Misunderstandings in panels purchase

Blockboard is solid wood board

blockboard is also called a large core board, which is made by cutting logs into strips, splicing them into cores, and processing the external facing materials. Since the main material is solid wood, many sales staff will introduce environmental protection panels. In fact, large core panels are artificial panels that contain adhesives.

Solid wood particle board is a "new environmentally friendly product"

Because furniture grade mdf made of medium-density boards and particleboards that have not reached the national standard have been used for many indoor pollution cases, the reputation of these two boards is not very good. Therefore, many medite mdf suppliers have given new ideas to these two boards. The name misleads consumers. The most common name is to call MDF as particle board. Some sales staff will add the word "solid wood" in front of them to indicate that they are "natural and environmentally friendly" products. solid wood particle board is made of solid wood particles, which is definitely different from solid wood.

Melamine board is medium density board

This kind of board is a paper printed with color or imitation wood grain, soaked in transparent melamine resin, and then attached to the surface of the substrate by hot pressing. After the melamine resin is cured, the veneer has good physical properties such as abrasion resistance and scratch resistance, and has a certain degree of flame resistance. The veneered boards made of this material are called melamine mdf sheet, and the base materials are different. MDF and particleboard can all be made into melamine faced boards. So don’t keep turning on the board. As the board used in panel furniture is qualified through national inspection and repair, it does not harm human health. No matter what it is called and what material it is composed of, it is all right.

The thicker the sheet, the better the quality?

Can the weight of the board really determine the quality? Although theoretically, the heavier the board, the higher strength and the better the nail holding power, but consumers do not need to pursue the weight and thickness of the board excessively. For example, the density of particleboard is clearly specified in the national standard, so long as it meets the standard is enough. In addition, for the table top, the thickness of the plate is larger, which may also bring a sense of thickness, but it is mainly used for covering the wardrobe door and so on. It is not necessary to be too thick.

Many boards look very thick, but in fact there are multiple layers of boards combined together, and there may be hollows inside. If they are solid, it is too heavy and unnecessary. It is emphasized that too heavy plates will burden the hardware and affect its service life.

Can the wear resistance be measured with the key stroke?

The national standards have clear requirements for the wear resistance and stain resistance of the surface of the plate. The key marking test is actually the minimum performance that the surface of the sheet should have, and it cannot explain the problem. Because in actual testing, the testing methods and conditions are much more stringent, such as stain resistance, soy sauce and lipstick will act on the surface of the board for a certain period of time, and then look at the effect.

If the edges are neatly sealed, can the formaldehyde be sealed?

Whether the edge sealing of the artificial board is tight has little effect on the amount of formaldehyde released, because even if the sealing is tight, the formaldehyde will continue to be released, but the speed per unit time is slower. However, the release rate is only accelerated when the edge seal is damaged, and the actual total amount of formaldehyde released is basically the same. Edge sealing has a greater impact on aesthetics. In addition, tight sealing can prevent the sheet from absorbing water and swelling when exposed to water, resulting in edge swelling.

To choose MDF for panel furniture?

Particleboard and MDF are commonly used materials for making furniture, but there are still some differences in performance between the two. In general, particleboard has a greater advantage. First of all, MDF is a man-made board made of wood fiber and an appropriate amount of adhesive. Its density is uniform, suitable for multi-face processing, and the cost is relatively high. The particle board is made by cutting wood into shavings and then pressing with glue. It is characterized by good nail holding power, low expansion rate, and good control of free formaldehyde. Its sizing amount is also smaller than that of MDF, but it is only suitable for plane processing.

In general, it is sufficient to use particleboard for panel furniture, and MDF can only be used to assist the part where the particleboard is not easy to process. It would be very wasteful to use MDF for the entire furniture.
