What is eucalyptus plywood? What are the advantages and disadvantages of eucalyptus plywood?

eucalyptus plywood is a three-layer or multi-layer board-like material made of eucalyptus segments that are peeled into eucalyptus veneers or eucalyptus squares are sliced into thin wood, and then glued with adhesive. Usually, odd-numbered veneers are used. The fiber directions of adjacent layers of veneers are glued perpendicularly to each other.

1. Classification of plywood

The first type of is weather resistant and boiling waterproof plywood, weather resistant plywood which has the advantages of durability, high temperature resistance, and steam treatment.

The second type of plywood is water resistant plywood, which can be dipped in cold water and hot water for a short time.

The third type of plywood is moisture resistant plywood, which can be dipped in cold water for a short time and is suitable for indoor use at room temperature. types of plywood used in construction and furniture.

The four types of plywood are non moisture resistant plywood. They are used indoors under normal conditions. They are mainly used for ordinary plywood, including basswood, ash, birch, elm, poplar, and eucalyptus.

2. Eucalyptus core plywood

(1) decorative plywood panels is a man-made board made of natural wooden decorative veneer attached to the plywood. The decorative veneer is a thin eucalyptus wood chip made from high-quality wood through sliced or peeling processing methods.

(2) Features of eucalyptus veneer plywood:

Decorative 4x8 veneer plywood is one of the most commonly used materials for interior decoration. Because the decorative veneer on the surface of the product is made of high-quality wood through sliced or peeling processing methods, it has better decorative properties than fsc plywood. The eucalyptus plywood is natural, simple, natural and noble, and can create the best friendly and elegant room environment for people.

(3) Types of eucalyptus ply:

decorative veneer plywood can be divided into single-sided veneer plywood and double-sided veneer plywood according to the decorative surface; according to water resistance, it can be divided into type I decorative veneer plywood and type II decorative veneer plywood and Class III decorative veneer plywood; according to the texture of the decorative veneer, it can be divided into radial decorative veneer plywood and chord-direction decorative veneer plywood. The common one is single-sided decorative ply. Commonly used wood species for fancy plywood are birch, ash, oak, elm, maple, walnut, eucalyptus, etc.

(4) Classification of eucalyptus hardwood plywood:

My country's decorative veneer plywood standard stipulates that decorative veneer plywood can be divided into three grades: excellent product, first-class product and qualified product. I would like to remind decorative plywood manufacturers and consumers that other grading methods do not meet my country's decorative veneer standards. For example, some plywood manufacturers near me have a logo level of "AAA", which is a corporate behavior.

(5) The performance requirements of the national standard for decorative veneer plywood:

The current recommended standard in my country is GB/T 15104-94 "Decorative Veneer Man-made Panels", and most of the plywood companies currently implement this standard. This standard specifies indicators for decorative veneer plywood in terms of appearance quality, processing accuracy, and physical and mechanical properties. Its physical and mechanical performance indicators include: moisture content, surface bonding strength, immersion and peeling. GB18580-2001"Indoor Decoration Materials-Man made Panels and plywood products of Formaldehyde Release Limits" also stipulates the product's formaldehyde emission limits.

The national standard stipulates that the moisture content index of fancy is 6% to 14%.

Surface bonding strength reflects the bonding strength between the decorative veneer layer and the plywood substrate. The national standard stipulates that this index should be ≥50MPa, and the number of test pieces that meet the standard should be ≥80%. If this index is unqualified, it means that the glue quality of the decorative veneer and the base material woodies plywood is poor, which may cause the decorative veneer layer to open up and bulge during use.

Dipping and peeling reflects the gluing performance of each plywood of decorative veneer. The unqualified index indicates that the bonding quality of the board is poor, which may cause the glue to open during use.

Limit of formaldehyde emission. Exceeding the limit of formaldehyde will affect the health of consumers. The standard stipulates that the formaldehyde emission of decorative veneer plywood should reach: E1 level ≤ 1.5 mg/L, E2 level ≤ 5.0 mg/L.

3. The choice of eucalyptus veneer plywood

In recent years, in the production of 2400 x 1200 x 18mm plywood, a lot of colored plywood have been derived. The most important one is to paste a thin layer of decorative veneer on the aa plywoodsurface, which is called veneer plywood. The above is referred to as decorative mdf board or decorative plywood panels.

It is worth noting that common veneers are divided into natural plywood and artificial veneer plywood. natural veneer plywood is a veneer made of precious natural wood through sliced or peeling processing methods. Artificial veneer is made into veneer by rotary cutting of relatively low-priced logs, pressed into a wooden square by a certain process, and then sliced into a decorative veneer with beautiful patterns.

Generally, the veneers attached to natural wood veneer panels are often well-patterned and high-value tree species, such as cypress, oak, rosewood, ash, etc. However, it should be stated in the name of the product, such as "cypress plywood", or "ash veneer plywood", or "cherry veneer plywood". "Veneer", "slice" and "veneer" in several terms all reflect the basic characteristics of "veneer". However, the abbreviations such as cypress plywood and ash plywood cannot be used, because these abbreviations refer to the plywood panels and bottom plates are made of cypress or ash. Another problem is that the number of furniture produced by veneer panels is increasing. Although these furniture have the appearance of wood grain such as "cypress", the wood of the furniture is generally made of other woods, and now stores call these furniture "cypress furniture", The sale of "cherry wood furniture" is wrong. Whether it is so-called cypress furniture or mahogany faced plywood furniture, it should be genuine solid wood furniture. The whole piece is made of these woods instead of veneers. This issue should arouse the attention of operators and the vigilance of consumers, and must not mislead consumption and be fooled when buying.

Advantages of eucalyptus plywood:

1. Light weight, clear lines, insulation, high strength, and not easy to deform.

2. The construction is convenient, it is not suitable for warping, and the transverse grain has good tensile mechanical properties.

Disadvantages of eucalyptus plywood:

1. Generally eucalyptus plywood price cost high.

2. Eucalyptus plywood is not as smooth as the MDF surface layer. When plywood is used as the base layer, and the surface is bonded with fire-resistant panels, aluminum-plastic panels and other decorative panels, it is not as firm as the MDF as the base layer.
