What is the veneer plywood? What are the types of wood veneer plywood?

Introduction to ply veneer

The full name of veneer panel is decorative veneer plywood. Its veneer is mainly based on wood chips sliced from natural wood. Natural wood or technical wood is sliced into slices of a certain thickness, adhered to the surface of the plywood, and then hot pressed a surface material used for plywood interior decoration or furniture manufacturing. The materials used in the veneer are stone, porcelain, metal, wood and so on.

Fancy plywood specification

Commonly used veneer sheets sizes are 2440*1220, 1000*2000, 1220*2000, 1200*3000 and other sizes. The thickness of the veneer plywood is usually 3mm, but there are also some other thicknesses such as 0.9mm/1.2mm/1.5mm/1.8mm/

2.0mm/2.7mm/3.0mm/3.6mm and so on. The thicker the better, the better the performance after painting. The more real the solid wood feel, the clearer the texture, the brighter the color and the better the saturation.

Types of veneer panels

According to the tree species of the veneer

There are currently 23 veneers, which are teak, walnut, white oak, Red oak, cherry, sapelle, pear wood, white shadow, white birch, red birch, white walnut, ash, etc.

According to the source of the veneer

natural plywood and artificial veneer. Natural, variability is relatively large, irregular. It not only possesses the wood landscape, but also achieves the utilization of resources and reduces it.

Advantages and disadvantages of veneer

Advantages of veneer

1. Wide variety. The most important part of this kind of board is its wood veneer. The wood veneer is sliced from natural wood or technical wood. Therefore, there are many types of veneer core plywood, which can show different styles and satisfy many requirements. This kind of home style requirements.

2. Close to nature. It is a kind of pure wood material, which is in line with modern people's concept of returning to innocence and gives people a sense of being close to nature.

Disadvantages of veneer

1. The decorative panel is a kind of man-made board, which will release a certain amount of free formaldehyde. Although qualified veneer products limit the amount of formaldehyde emission to a range that is harmless to the human body, this requires consumers to choose products with a sharp eye.

2. In the actual application, the decorative plywood panels also needs to be painted, which is a troublesome and time-consuming thing for busy urbanites. However, wholesale plywood suppliers have  already

launched a customized service of paintable plywood, which is more convenient and fast.

Decorative panels to buy

1. Skin thickness

The thicker the veneer, the better the performance, the more real the solid wood feel after painting, the clearer the texture, the brighter the color and the better the saturation. The identification method is whether there is sand penetration on the edge of the kanban, whether there is glue leakage on the surface of the board, and whether there is blueness and transparency in the water application experiment. If there is, the panel skin is thin.

2. Appearance quality

The surface color is consistent, the surface has no scars, and the appearance is good for decoration. The material should be meticulous and uniform, the color and luster should be clear, and the wood grain should be beautiful. In addition, see whether it is warped and deformed, and whether it can be erected vertically and laid flat naturally. It is a low-quality bottom plate if it warps or the board is soft and not upright, and cannot be erected.

3. Glue layer structure

The structure of the glue layer is stable, and there is no glue opening. The veneer and the base material must be tightly seamed, and there should be no bubbling, delamination or degumming between the veneer and the base material and the inner layers of the base material. You can use a knife to pry method to test the bonding strength, use a sharp flat blade to pry open along the glue layer, if the glue layer is damaged but the wood is intact, it means that the bonding strength is poor.

4. Base layer and epidermis

The base layer of the veneer and the surface veneer are of better quality. The thickness and moisture content of the grassroots must meet the national standards, whether to remove alkali treatment, etc. The thickness of the surface layer of veneer should reach the standard, not too thin, too thin will penetrate the bottom, change, affect the appearance.

5. Smell identification

Smell the smell. If the pungent smell is strong, it means that the amount of formaldehyde released exceeds the standard, which will seriously pollute the indoor environment, and the more dangerous it will be when used indoors. We can request a test report from the merchant to see if the product meets environmental protection standards.

6. Decorative panel brand

It takes a certain amount of time for the quality of the veneer to appear, so the decorative plywood manufacturers business strength and after-sales service guarantee should be considered when purchasing. Choose the products produced by the regular manufacturers that are covered with marks indicating the type, grade, and manufacturer name of the decorative panel on the lower right corner of the back panel.

What are the furniture decorative materials?

Natural veneer (veneer)

It is usually used for middle and high-end furniture. The common wood veneer has a color ranging from light to dark, including cherry wood, maple wood, white beech, red beech, ash, white oak, red oak, teak, yellow pear, red pear, walnut, white shadow wood, red shadow wood, red sandalwood, black sandalwood and so on. High-end panel furniture generally adopts a large area of natural veneer, solid wood edge banding, and small pieces of solid wood. Pasting natural veneer is not only natural and beautiful, but also has excellent performance, and the veneer has a certain thickness (0.3-0.6mm), which has a good protective effect.

Synthetic veneer (technical veneer)

Natural wood veneers are used as raw materials, and logs of different colors are stacked one after another. The wood is formed by high-pressure resin glueing to form a wooden square, which is then sliced from the section to form new veneers with different colors and different wood species. (After finishing, bleaching and dyeing, viscose hot pressing, specification sawing wood and other links and procedures), all natural characteristics of wood such as heat insulation, insulation, temperature regulation and humidity regulation are retained. The texture pattern is regular. Advantages The surface is wear-resistant, high hardness, not easy to peel, uniform color, smooth surface, more resistant to environmental factors, and stable veneer.

Wood grain paper (paper skin)

The printing paper fibers are beaten into pulp to make paper skins, and the required wood grains and floral decorations are printed on the computer. Mass production, the wood grain printing is repeated monotonous, the colors are the same, and there is no three-dimensional effect.

Plastic veneer or PVC rubber sheet

This type of veneer is a petrochemical product. The surface is printed with wood grain and flower decoration by a special printing machine, and the back is prepared with glue, which must be glued by hot-pressing precision instruments.

Fireproof board

It is made of kraft paper, phenolic resin, titanium dioxide coated paper, and melamine paper. It is mostly used for panel furniture, cabinets, etc. Wear resistance, high temperature resistance, high hardness, with wood grain, plain surface, stone grain or other floral decorations.
